2009 Success Stories -Part 3

SANGRIA
has some pretty big shoes to fill. Her new owners were fostering Dottie through her heart ordeal. Unfortunately, Dottie didn't make it after her surgery so they opened their hearts to Sangria. They have decided to be a 'permanent' foster home for seniors which is a wonderful thing to do.
  SHELBY
the collie has been here a while, but the right home just needed to come along and on Black Friday it did! She has a great home with a little min-pin named Cricket who I’m sure she’s going to have a blast with. Her folks just lost their sheltie to old age several days before Thanksgiving and since Shelby’s new dad used to have a collie, when they saw Shelby they were in love.
  SUNSHINE
is a 4 year old sheltie that was surrendered to WSR, but got away in the driveway the week of Labor Day. We set live traps and hung posters, but Sunshine hid out for nearly a month before showing up at Calumet County Park, six miles away. Luckily, the girl who was working in the office at the time loves dogs and fell in love with Sunshine who came back to WSR for a short time to be vetted and checked out and now lives with the girl and her family who were responsible for finding her.
  DOTTIE
does have a new home, but there is a long road ahead for her. Before going to her home, she needed to be updated on vaccinations and during the exam, it was discovered that she has a grade 5 heart murmur. That is pretty serious so we are working with the Fox Valley Animal Referral Center to determine whether or not Dottie needs surgery or if it can be controlled with medication. Either way, I'm grateful to her new mom and dad for taking her through this journey. They were previous boarding clients of mine who have fallen in love with the sheltie breed after their cocker mix passed away at 15 years old.

PENNY
has a new home with a great retired couple who had a WSR sheltie in the past. Penny is just their speed and she's enjoying her new life of luxury and lots of walks in the park.
  BEAUTY
spent longer in rescue than planned, but that's because we were told she was pregnant when she got here. Turned out that she wasn't, which was great news for her mom who could have her earlier! She joins a whole herd of shelties up north and gets to have Dr. Rocci as her vet.
  CHIA
found a home where they are partial to the 'little' ones. They've had several WSR shelties in the past, both boys and girls, young and old, all colors except blue. Currently, Chia has two sheltie sisters to chase around the yard and she's having a great time knowing that she won't be making any more puppies or sleeping outside.
  BRYAN
Well, now the Rainbow is complete. Bryan makes six for Chris and John's gang and he's the first blue merle. As part of the singing shelties, he's not quite going to fit in because he's debarked, so they'll have five singing shelties at the reunion and one whispering sheltie
  SAMMY
found out that the garbage hunting is better in Sheboygan so he begged for a new home there and got it. So far, he's gotten into every garbage in the house and is plotting a way to check out what the neighbors have too. His sheltie companion, Buddy is in awe of his new roommates dumpster diving capabilities.

LACEY
has a perfect retirement home with another senior sheltie. They can both enjoy their retirement in a beautiful home in the woods with lots of leisurely strolls through the fields and walkways.
  SHIANNE
gets a home where the whole family has shelties so she'll have lots of friends. She also lives with a husky and an American Eskimo mix who was trying to get her to play before she was barely in the door.
  BAXTER
was the big boy with one ear up and one ear down. He might just be living in doggie heaven, or at least next to it. His owners have a family meat market! How cool is that for Baxter!!
  LUKE
was the one year old that was available in last months' newsletter. We took him to the specialist who thought it was in Luke's best interest to be three-legged so that's what he is now. Once we knew that would be his final vet bill in this ordeal, his previous owner paid it and wanted Luke back so he's back where he came from.
  CHASE
has two sheltie brothers to show him how to grow into a well-behaved sheltie boy. He gets to go on long walks every day and is doing great with his housebreaking.

HOLLY
got a new home where they haven't had a puppy for a long time, but are having fun getting used to the puppy antics again. She has someone around almost all day and visits her WSR sheltie cousin Jack every Sunday for a playdate.
  FRAZIER (was Montana)
is from the puppymill seizure in northern Wisconsin and makes his home with a great lady who is used to having girl dogs, but couldn't resist Frazier's cuteness. He's working on being a good boy now that he's neutered and spent his first night sleeping on the bed with his leash tied to a human foot to make sure that he didn't jump off and get into trouble.
  KYMONI
is a beautiful blue boy who now has a nice home in the country and his very own sheltie girlfriend to play around with. His family has been sheltie lovers for many years and fell in love with Kymoni's picture on the website.
  ABBY
is the sweet little thing that came in with Bryan. She is from a breeder who retired and went to an apartment. Abby now makes her home with a great couple who's had two WSR sheltie girls in the past.
  ROWDY
makes his home with a great couple who haven't had a dog for awhile, but Rowdy will have some feline friends at his new house.
